Schweitzer is 11 miles from the charming town of Sandpoint, Idaho (population 6,835 ). Nestled between expansive Lake Pend Oreille and the lush Selkirk Mountain Range, Sandpoint is a growing community of artists, outdoor enthusiasts, professionals, families and natives. With a strong history rooted in the timber industry and railroads, Sandpoint is modest , low-key and offers a wonderful sense of place. You will quickly discover your favorite spots for coffee or a fresh pint, and the best place to grab a burrito. Sandpoint bustles in the summer months - between boating and wakeboarding on the lake, mountain biking around the area, music festivals and art fairs - activities and adventures abound.
We won't lie to you, housing prices have been on the rise in our neck of the woods. However, rental prices in the area are still fairly reasonable for a ski town. Many employees choose to live in and around the Sandpoint area, as well as in the nearby towns such as Bonners Ferry, Hope, Clark Fork and the greater Coeur d'Alene area. At the present, Schweitzer does not have employee housing. We offer transportation from the Park & Ride Lot (at the bottom of the hill) up to the resort every day in the winter, as well as select transportation routes from Sandpoint.
