Schweitzer Reports Best Summer Ever
Guests enjoy special events and diverse activities during summer season
Sandpoint, ID - Schweitzer Mountain Resort’s Fall Fest on Labor Day weekend marked the end of summer chairlift operations and pushed the resort beyond previous summer visitation records. On Sunday, September 2nd, during Fall Fest, more people enjoyed riding the Great Escape Quad than ever before on a single summer day, excluding free days. Overall, chairlift rides purchased this summer were 14% above the previous record last summer.
“The increase in visits that Schweitzer experienced this summer is a clear indication that we are well on our way to our goal of being a year round destination resort,” said Tom Chasse, Schweitzer’s President and CEO. “Our summer mountain offerings are a wonderful compliment to the popular activities on Lake Pend Oreille and in Sandpoint; and our summer business will indirectly serve to enhance our winter operations as well.”
Schweitzer held four festivals this summer, including an array of great free live music. The Twilight Bike Adventure Race Series was another big hit, as well as weekly free music on the lawn and weekly free outdoor movies. Additionally, guests enjoyed many fun activities offered daily such as scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, horseback rides, a climbing wall, two bungee jump trampolines, mountain biking, hiking and more.
The well received Great Escape Package helped push lodging occupancy beyond all previous records as well. Great Escape Packages include 30 Adventure Bucks per person per night, which guests can use for dining, shopping, and activities. Great Escape Packages are available with somewhat limited usage of Adventure Bucks until the ski season begins. Schweitzer’s targeted 07-08 winter opening is in late November or early December.
