All ten chairlifts will operate during the holiday week, giving skiers and snowboarders more reasons to celebrate this holiday season. “It’s been phenomenal,” said Tom Chasse, Schweitzer’s President and CEO, “We had one storm that buried the doorknob to my office overnight.” “I had to dig down to the handle in order to grab my skis and ditch work that morning,” he said with a chuckle. Skiers and snowboarders are flocking to the resort, with all on-mountain lodging booked for the week between Christmas and New Years. There is no concern about crowds however; even on their busiest days there is more than one acre of terrain for every person on the mountain. With two huge open bowls and 84 named runs, there is enough room for everyone.
Lodging is still available starting New Year’s Day and a ski trip may be the best way to extend the holiday spirit. “We have rooms available, and snow is in the forecast throughout the next seven days,” said Devin Marks, Schweitzer’s Director of Lodging. “A trip to Schweitzer can be the holiday gift that keeps giving and the best way to kick off the New Year on a healthy note.” As of December 21st, Schweitzer is reporting a settled snow depth of 78” at the summit and 62” in the Village.
