Trading Cards and Park Passes offered in participation with National Safety Week
Sandpoint, ID – Schweitzer Mountain Resort launched their Safety Trading Card program and Park Pass program in observance of National Safety Awareness Week. National Safety Awareness Week, January 19-25, 2008, is an annual event of the National Ski Areas Association that highlights ski resort safety education efforts and aims to increase slope safety.
Schweitzer’s Safety Trading Cards have pictures of key mountain safety personnel and include safety tips from those employees.
Youth are encouraged to collect all twelve cards for a chance to win a 08-09 junior season pass and Smith goggles and gear. There
are many ways to get clues about where to find the employees with cards, and several trading parties are scheduled too. The program intends to engage youth with ski patrol, park rangers and other safety personnel at Schweitzer, and to encourage them to ski and ride
safely.
”It’s great to see how the program has taken off with the kids in just the first few days” said Mary Weber Quinn, Schweitzer’s events
and activities director who initiated the program. “We’ve had members of ski patrol get swarmed by dozens of kids wanting their
cards. We knew it would be a cool program but had no idea it would be as popular as it is.”
The Park Pass Program encourages Stomping Grounds Terrain Park users to earn their safety credential, or Park Pass. Passes are offered for $5 after a safety video is viewed. Pass holders who enter the annual Stomp Games competition will get $5 off of the entry fee for the event. Additional information about both programs is available at schweitzer.com.
