Cheryl Crandall-Williams
Cheryl is diverse with her talents ranging from being an avid horse enthusiast, artist, certified strength and conditioning specialist, and has a doctorate in physical therapy. Oh, did we mention that she also teaches skiing? Cheryl has been coaching skiing for 10 years at Arizona Snowball and has recently joined the Schweitzer team. While she enjoys introducing the mountain experience to all ages, Cheryl's advice to all is "the mountain steeps can be intimidating for many individuals. When you find the intimidation factor is getting the best of you, stop for a moment and....breathe....laugh....and most of all have fun!!"

Becki Davis-Moore
Becki's teaching style is all about guiding gently although she can adjust for individual learning styles. Sliding downhill on snow is one of her greatest joys in life and she wants to share it with as many folks as possible. Some of Becki's other interests you may want to talk to her about on the chairlift include swimming, horseback riding and dancing. She has lived in Europe and learned to ski as an adult in Austria. If you were to run into Becki on the Abracadabra run, she would probably smile and tell you that wearing stripes with plaid is no big deal!

Ursula Graef
If "fun" and "learning" go together in your mind, then you will enjoy her coaching. Ursula has been a ski instructor for 20 years. She began teaching at Mammoth Mountain in California. The fall of 1991 was her first season at Schweitzer, and she is still here! She is very enthusiastic about continuing her learning so she can share it with you!!

Gary Carlson
After retiring from his "day job," Gary joined the Schweitzer Snowsports School in 1996. Gary is responsible for starting the Nice Turns Adult Ski Improvements Program seven years ago with only six students. This program has become so popular that it now has about 100 students. Michael tends to freeride like a madman, especially on powder days! You'll find him ridin' the trees and lookin' for the goods in B Chute trees. When the powder is all tracked out, Artherhults goes straight to the park where you'll catch a glimpse of him slidin' rails and improving his air time. Michael's advice to all is "get out and ride!"

James Zimmerman
Born to a Norwegian family, Jim began skiing at the tender age of 2. He began his teaching career at the age of 18 in the local mountains of southern California and then graduated to the big mountains of the Sierras and Lake Tahoe. Jim taught at Mammoth and Sugar Bowl for over a decade before he moved to North Idaho, specifically for Schweitzer Mountain. He has been with us for 3 years, and his favorite run here at Schweitzer is Pucci's Chute. Bob Stiger
Making the step from cruising groomers to the exhilaration of floating through the powder off trail is an experience that Bob would like to share with everyone at any age. Bob started skiing late in life, and quickly became an avid skier. This year he has retired from his day job (for the second time) and is finally a full time skier. He says that the step from intermediate to expert is simply honing a few skills and the desire to experience skiing at a different level. Let Bob take you to that next level, and remember, “While you are only young once, you can ski your entire life.”

Tina is a very patient person who understands the fears of her students. She is also great at encouraging her students and putting them at ease. Jeff Miller
Jeff started skiing in 1951 at the age of 7 and became interested in instructing while in college. He enjoys steeps, bumps and powder as well as teacing people to ski at all levels. Jeff has taught at Schweitzer for 3 years and his favorite run is Sundance. He is originally from Altoona PA and learned to ski at Seven Springs. His tip for you is; "At all levels of skiing, try to concentrate on starting the weight transfer for the initiation of each new trun as early as possible. Practice transfering the weight to the outside ski of the new trun while it is still the uphill ski."

Matthew Kennedy
Matt Kennedy is a devoted enthusiast of mountain sports and he is certified in three disciplines. He started teaching snowboarding when he was 14 as an instructor’s assistant at White Pass in Washington. At the age of 16 Matt became an instructor and started pursuing more training. Matt now works at Schweitzer Mountain Resort where he teaches and trains full time and considers himself a “snowsports professional.” Matt says “the most important step in improving your skills is to not only set a goal, but have an action plan for achieving that goal. The journey of learning determines what you actually end up learning so find a reason to get out and go riding.”

Chris LoBosco began skiing at age 9 in the Colorado Rockies. As a young adult he spent nearly a decade teaching snowboarding and sking in the Tahoe Basin. He loves to travel for play or work. Travel highlights include New Zealand, China, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Belize, Mexico, and Canada. Chris is patient, compassionate and speaks a little spanish when nessacary. Although enthusiastic about the sport, Chris is also mellow and easy to get along with. "Leave the egos at home, and let's go slide."

Jim Russell
Do you need to learn how to ski powder, trees, moguls, steeps and fast grromers better? Then look up Jim on weekends and holidays to become a more accomplished all mountain skiier! This season marks his 10th at Schweitzer. Jim, a local who lives and plays in Bottle Bay, grew up on NY"s Long Island, but didn't learn to ski until his mid 20s. Friday nights found Jim at Snoqualmie Pass taking lessons from UW ski club instructors. Jim's goal with every student is to improve their technique and efficiency so they have more energy to ski mulitple days i variable conditions without excessive fatigue creeping up on them during a week long ski trip.

Lisa Young
A double threat in that she is happy teaching little ones or adults whether they choose to ski or board. She is very patient and will always greet you with a smile. She works hard to make her students comfortable by alleviating fears and having fun. When not riding her favorite run off the T-bar she can be found on her mountain bike, hiking, or playing with her dog Josie. To sum it up in ten words or less Lisa says, "Relax. Have fun. Look where you want to go."
