Sandpoint, ID – Over 70 competitors raced down Schweitzer’s NASTAR course Friday, February 5th during the Starlight Race Series. Scott Barksdale posted the fastest overall time at 18.69 seconds and “No Intelligent Life” is the team everyone will be chasing next week, as they take the top of the leader board in week one.

The fastest female time this week was Paula Lund at 22.51 seconds, fastest telemark time was set by Tim Kenney at 24.13 seconds, and Jason Foy had the best snowboard time with 24.43 seconds.

Schweitzer’s Marketing Coordinator and Starlight Racer Sean Briggs experienced his 1st night racing through gates on skis.

“There was powder on the sides of the course but the conditions were great overall,” said Briggs. “Our team (the Interdemensional Rocket Ships) are shooting for most improved next week!”

After the racing, people spent their extra energy playing Nintendo Wii in Taps Lounge, which provides additional competition during the post race parties. Everyone enjoyed drink specials and prize giveaways while waiting for the race results to be announced.

This was the first night in the five night race series, which runs through March 5th. After party fun is open to racers and the public in Taps at 6pm.
