Base Camp for Beer Fanatics

Join the Schweitzer Mountain Community Association for a celebration of Deschutes Brewery beverages! Base Camp for Beer Fanatics features several beers from Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery being poured at multiple locations throughout Schweitzer Village and on the mountain. Guests can purchase a logo camp cup and beer tokens at the Deschutes “Woody” wagon near the clock tower. From there they can redeem their tokens at any of the participating venues as they tour the area and sample Deschutes brews. A Base Camp lunch will be served during the day at the Woody wagon for everyone who purchases the $25 Camp Package.
The day begins with competitors meeting at the Woody Wagon at the Clock Tower then heading to the bottom of the Great Escape chairlift for the Race to the Base. The race consists of each racer lining up at a common start line on top of the mountain with a cup full of beer. At the start signal everyone takes off down Gypsy and races to the village via one of the pre-approved runs. The first person to touch Woody while still keeping a designated amount of beer in their cup wins!
That evening, the Johnny Cash tribute band The Cold Hard Cash Show will perform in Taps for a FREE Base Camp concert. In 
addition, there will be a special raffle for everyone who turned in a completed “Beer Tag” at the concert. To enter the raffle, visit each of the establishments listed below on March 5th to get your “Beer Tag” stamped. At the show that night, one lucky guest will win the raffle for “The Red Chair” chairlift chair in celebration of Deschutes’ seasonal beer Red Chair NWPA!
