What The Holidays Mean to US

It’s almost December and time for all the joyful insanity of the season to start. For the majority of us in the Pacific Northwest, that insanity looks something like holiday shopping, travel planning, and trying to figure what to feed everyone over the holidays. The expectations run high and it’s a mighty task not to succumb to numbing oneself down with Grandma’s “medicinal” egg nog.

Schweitzer gets a little nutty this time of year too. Though, up here, it’s more the excitement of getting open and having everyone back on the mountain, skiing & riding. We’ve been busy getting the new mountain top lodge ready and we are thrilled with the building. There are two new restaurants and a cozy fireside bar where Grandma will be able to relax while the grandkids make laps on the Great Escape. It’s the perfect backdrop for moments when everyone in the family just needs to escape.

And really, that’s what Schweitzer is. A place to escape to. A place to come forget about the laundry, the dishes, and the DIY projects.  It’s our local place to rise above the day to day worries and just enjoy moments with friends and family.

We are here, holidays and weekends, to make sure you and your families can enjoy special times together. We work to provide our neighbors and friends someplace to go, someplace to love, someplace to escape to when that’s what they need most.

So after the Christmas gifts have been unwrapped and you’re ready to stretch those legs, head up the hill this holiday season. You’ll never forget having a mountain to yourself on Christmas Day or laughing with your cousins as you take on night skiing for the first time in years. These December moments are special and all of us who work at Schweitzer know that there’s no better season than one with family, escaping it all.
