Where'd I Put That Left Glove?

Less than 100 Days till ski season:
with the fall equinox upon us, it’s time to get serious.

1. Get in shape. It’s not too late to get rid of that summer boat-bloat. You know the one. Too many 12-oz curls on the water this summer may have lead you to carrying a little extra padding with you as you head into fall. Don’t panic. Get on your bike. Do your squats & lunges. You’ve got time to shake the weight before you need to get back into your ski pants.

2. Go to ski swaps and local ski shops. Sure, it’s nice to peruse online, but it’s better to actually see and feel gear in person. Our local shops and ski clubs do a lot for the skiing public and provide opportunities for jobs, community efforts and our town in general. It feels good to keep it local.

3. Once you get your gear, get it in working order. Dust off those bindings, scrape of that layer of protective wax you put on last summer for storage. (You did that, right?) Find those gloves, hats, goggles, jackets and pants. Make sure they fit (if not, see #1) and if something needs a little spin through the washer, fantastic! Better to know now rather than when you’re yelling, “SINGLE” on opening day.

4. Watch awesome ski movies. Like all of them. Over and over again. Don't forget your favorite cheesy one. We like “Out Cold.” Though “Hot Dog” still speaks to some of us.

5. Start banking your PTO for those powder days. Nothing worse than having to work when it’s dumping on the mountain.

6. Update your play list. These tunes will be the rhythm of your winter so think carefully as you put together those all-important play lists for powder days, cruiser days, driving up the hill mornings, and those extreme days where you just need something fast paced with lots of yelling in it. Oh, and tunes for the Wang. Critical.

7. Save money for après. Nothing worse than a killer day on the mountain and only having enough for one PBR tall boy when it’s done.

8. Go ahead and sign up for the daily snow report and start trolling every single farmer and his almanac. Becoming obsessed with the weather is an obligation.

9. Check out ticket prices, season pass prices, and online ticket deals. Find the best options for how many days you think you want to ride this winter. Make a plan to make the mountain happen for you. Commitment is scary but when you’re in it, you’re in it to win it.

10. Get all your fall activities done, like now. Before you know it, it’s going to snow and there’s nowhere else you’ll want to be than here.
