June 2015

Greetings from the top of Idaho,

Once the snow begins to melt and skis and snowboards are put away for the season, summertime comes alive at Schweitzer. The birds start singing, wildflowers bloom and biking trails appear on the mountainside. Summer is a time for awakening at Schweitzer, and what better way to enjoy the season than hiking, biking and taking in breathtaking scenery?

Schweitzer can offer all those things, and much more. Trails for hiking and biking, chairlift rides, scores of outdoor activities, fine dining and more await you. Or, feel the lure of the picturesque town of Sandpoint, ID and explore shops, local eateries, artwork, exquisite views and more. Between the best of mountain and lake, there’s something for everyone.

Aside from the outdoor adventures that await you, you’ll discover something that can only be defined as The Schweitzer Difference. It’s the personality and culture that you’ll find when you interact with our service team here. I look forward to sharing our passion for the mountains, infectious zest for life, and top-notch service with you during your stay.

  • Strong January at Schweitzer for Snowsports Enthusists

Thanks to the National Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month (LSSM) initiative in January, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is reporting a 65% growth in first time skiers and riders taking part in the resort’s beginner lesson programs that month. “The LSSM program was a fantastic opportunity for people to try something new without having to break the bank to get started,” said Terry McLeod Schweitzer’s Snowsports School Manager. “Our children’s alpine lessons grew by 108% over our previous record and it was wonderful to see how stoked these kids were to be out there.”

  • January is Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month

January is a month chock full of best intentions with resolutions to get in shape and get healthy. Hence one reason why the month is perfect for encouraging people to get out on the mountain and try new sports that help with both those goals. “Humans were not meant to hibernate,” says Terry McLeod, Snowsports School Manager at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.
