May 2014

Greetings from the top of Idaho,

Once the snow begins to melt and skis and snowboards are put away for the season, summertime comes alive at Schweitzer. The birds start singing, wildflowers bloom and biking trails appear on the mountainside. Summer is a time for awakening at Schweitzer, and what better way to enjoy the season than hiking, biking and taking in breathtaking scenery?

Schweitzer can offer all those things, and much more. Trails for hiking and biking, chairlift rides, scores of outdoor activities, fine dining and more await you. Or, feel the lure of the picturesque town of Sandpoint, ID and explore shops, local eateries, artwork, exquisite views and more. Between the best of mountain and lake, there’s something for everyone.

Aside from the outdoor adventures that await you, you’ll discover something that can only be defined as The Schweitzer Difference. It’s the personality and culture that you’ll find when you interact with our service team here. I look forward to sharing our passion for the mountains, infectious zest for life, and top-notch service with you during your stay.

  • Schweitzer Announces End of 2014/15 Season

Despite the best efforts of the Schweitzer Mountain Resort staff, the resort has made the decision to end the 2014/15 winter season at the close of daily operations on Sunday, March 29, 2015. Thanks to favorable early season weather and an improved snow making capability, Schweitzer was able to open the season early on November 22, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

  • Buddy Werner Championships

Schweitzer Alpine Racing School (SARS) and Spokane Ski Racing Association (SSRA) will be hosting the 2015 Buddy Werner U-14 Championships at Schweitzer Mountain Resort this weekend. The three-day racing event starts on Friday, March 13 and will feature slalom, giant slalom and super-G races for over 200 athletes from the Pacific Northwest.

  • Colder Temps Allow Snowmaking

Sandpoint, ID –Ski resorts in the Pacific Northwest have been facing a difficult time this season. Warm temperatures and little to no new natural snow have caused a few areas to close until conditions change. Schweitzer Mountain Resort, on the other hand, isn’t ready to let Mother Nature call all the shots just yet.
