Type 1 Skier: Type 1 skiers are typically beginners who prefer skiing cautiously and at lower speeds. This skier is most comfortable on smooth slopes of gentle to moderate pitch and primarily ski green and easy blue terrain. As a type 1 skier, you prefer lower release/retention settings so in the case of a fall, your bindings are more likely to release, and your ski will come off.

Type 2 Skier: Type 2 skiers normally ski and explore varied terrain and different parts of the mountain. If you're unsure if you're a type 1 or 3, type 2 will be the best fit. This will provide an average release/retention setting appropriate for most recreational skiing.

Type 3 Skier: Type 3 skiers prefer faster speeds and steeper, more advanced terrain. A type 3 skier skies aggressively on the slopes and likes to send it! As a type 3 skier, the higher release/retention setting decreases the risk of inadvertent binding release.

Feel free to discuss with your binding technician if you have additional questions!
There are 3 different levels of gear: basic, performance, and demo. Basic gear is intended for beginners, performance gear is for intermediate to advanced skiers, and demos are the latest and greatest!

Demos are only available to be reserved in person at the Ski & Ride Center.
While helmets are not included in our rental packages, they are highly recommended for all people of all abilities! Helmets are $15 to rent and must be reserved in person at the Ski & Ride Center.
We try to update our inventory as regularly as possible!
For basic and performance packages, both ski and snowboard, we provide Rossignol. Our ski demo fleet includes Rossignol, K2, Nordica, Blizzard, and Line while our snowboard demo fleet includes Snowboards Arbor, K2, Never Summer, and Rossignol.
If you have any issues with your rentals, please bring them back to the Ski & Ride Center and our techs will replace your gear. We want to ensure you have the proper gear to safely explore, learn, and shred on the mountain!
With a package, you will be provided with all the necessary gear to go riding. For example, with a ski package you will receive skis, boots, bindings, and poles. With a snowboard package, you will receive a snowboard, boots, and bindings. With a ski or snowboard only rental, you will receive only skis and bindings or just a snowboard and bindings.

Helmets can be added to your rental package for an additional $15!
Rental equipment will be picked up and returned to the Ski & Ride Center in the Village, located right next to the Basin Express Quad.
All equipment rentals include a complimentary gear check throughout the day. This helps prevent any confusion on the ski racks and from someone accidentally confusing your gear for theirs!
Any rental gear from Schweitzer can be stored in our gear check overnight for free!
