Up on the mountain, all the hustle and bustle of summer has officially come to an end. The lift has shut down, many of our outlets have closed their doors, and now is the time when people start to think that there’s nothing to do up at Schweitzer.

While it's true, there isn’t much “to do” up here in the Fall, we think the lack of things “to do” offers a quiet ambiance that everyone should take advantage of.

So, what IS open?

We have three main offerings during the shoulder season (how we refer to fall and spring):

Cambium Spa, lodging, and dining. Cambium Spa, located in the Selkirk Lodge, is an underrated gem. Guests can relax and unwind with a classic massage, a quick treatment like an express chair massage, time in the sauna, or a facial from an Eminence professional.

As for dining, Mojo Coyote Cafe is always serving up delicious coffee, breakfast, and a build your own sandwich bar for lunch. Just a few steps away, Crow’s Bench provides an elevated dining experience with their specialty craft cocktails and seasonal lunch and dinner menu.

If you’re looking to book a relaxing mountain getaway, you have the option of a mountain-side condo or Humbird, our boutique hotel. Humbird provides cozy modern rooms along with plenty of amenities like access to a modern coworking space, a fitness center outfitted with everything you need, and a rooftop hot tub with unforgettable views of Lake Pend Oreille.

If that’s everything, what am I supposed to do while I’m there?

Great question! Our answer? Slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet. In a few months, the Village will be bustling with skiers and snowboarders. Why not soak in the brief season of reprieve?

1. Take a leisurely hike on the cross-country trails out to Picnic Point. (Just remember, there is no patrol on the mountain in the fall, so come prepared like you would for any other hike.) Not only will you be rewarded with a great view at the end, but you can enjoy the changing seasons the whole way.
2. If that’s not your style, cozy up in a spot and read, write, paint—whatever your hobby may be! What better environment to unlock your creativity?
