Construction Update: Schweitzer Creek Village, August 2026
August marked another month of progress on Schweitzer Creek Village, with major milestones reached on the new bridge and continued site work on the road and parking lot.
One of the most visible accomplishments was the removal of the old bridge, clearing the way for construction of the new gateway into Schweitzer Creek Village. Crews from Big Sky moved directly into foundation compaction and testing work to prepare the site for the bridge's support structure. Once foundation work was complete, crews began pouring concrete and assembling the steel bridge, which is constructed from multiple steel arch sections that are bolted together on-site.
Work also continued on the bridge's supporting infrastructure. Following bridge assembly, the Vista wall will be installed and backfilled, creating a key structural component of the project.
Beyond the bridge, significant progress was made on the roadway. Construction teams continued shaping the landscape by cutting and filling slopes along the roadway and within parking areas. As grading operations advanced, crews began applying topsoil to completed slopes, helping transform construction zones into finished terrain.
Additional infrastructure work is now underway, including continued construction of the Vista wall at the bridge and the start of trenching activities for dry utilities. These essential utilities will support future development within Schweitzer Creek Village and represent another step forward in bringing the project to life.
With bridge construction advancing, utility installation underway, and site grading steadily progressing, Schweitzer Creek Village continues to take shape. Each milestone brings the project closer to creating a new arrival experience and expanded base-area amenities for our ski community.
