Mountain Biking
Downhill full suspension mountain bikes are recommended for riders using the terrain accessed via the chairlift at Schweitzer. As the fastest mountain bike models in our fleet, these bikes feature high-performance suspension systems engineered to not only withstand the rugged demands of downhill riding, but excel at them.
Your downhill mountain bike rental comes standard with a traditional open-face helmet. Guests can always upgrade to a full-face helmet along with elbow and knee pads for maximum protection. Rental equipment is available from June 13 - September 7, 2026.

Rocky Mountain Altitude Power Play - eBike (not available online)
Schweitzer's rental shop offers a handful of the Rocky Mountain Altitude Power Play eBikes. With more power to play with, ride farther and longer than you ever thought possible. Strong motor and great suspension will have you soaking up bumps and rocks all day long. Due to the limited number of available eBikes, all rentals for eBikes are on a first-come, first-served basis at the rental shop.

Cancellation Policy
No refunds will be given inside a 2 day cancellation window. A full refund will be provided if made more than 2 day prior to arrival. If you need to cancel, please call Schweitzer Reservations at (833) 854-7669.
Do I need a helmet?
Yes, all mountain bikers are required to wear helmets. Both standard open-face and full-face helmet rentals are available at the Ski & Ride Center in the VIllage.
Do I need to reserve a mountain bike rental in advance?
While online options are available and encouraged, it is not required. If you're checking online the day of your visit, rentals will not show as available, but that doesn't mean we don't have any bikes available! Simply visit the Ski & Ride Center and an employee will help you with rentals.
Can I take my rental bike on the chairlift?
Our adult full suspension and youth mountain bikes are fully approved to load onto the chairlift. Cross-country bikes are not allowed on the lift and are intended exclusively for the cross-country trails accessible directly from the Village.
Are lift tickets included with bike rentals?
No, mountain bike rentals do not include chairlift access.
Are e-bikes allowed on the chairlift or trails?
Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on our chairlift, size and weight permitting. If you have a question about your e-bike, feel free to ask a lift attendant or employee at the Ski & Ride Center.
Can I take my bike on the lower basin trails?
Yes, rental bikes can be used on the lower basin trails, but they must be returned to the rental shop by 5:30pm. Guests are responsible for any and all frame damage. Guests are responsible for arranging their transport back to the Village. If you need a ride back to the Village, check out the Schweitzer Mountain Bike Shuttle. Bikes are not allowed to be rented outside of shop hours (10:00am - 5:30pm) and there are no overnight/multi-day rentals at this time.
Do you offer overnight or multi-day rentals?
We do not currently offer overnight or multi-day rentals at this time. All bikes must be returned within shop hours.
What are the mountain bike rental shop hours?
Bike rentals are available during standard shop hours from 10:00am - 5:30pm.
