Due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is closed as of the end of the day, March 18, 2020 for the winter 2019/20 season. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions:

Uphill Traffic/Skinning

We know these are extenuating circumstances, but our normal policy concerning uphill traffic is in effect.  Schweitzer is private property and for your safety, uphill travel is prohibited at all times except on the Nordic trails.  The mountain is no longer patrolled and avalanche hazards may exist.  Other hazards can/may include on-snow equipment and vehicles, winch lines and unmarked obstacles. We are lucky to live in a region that has plenty of access to public land on which to hike if you want to continue your season in the mountains.

Terrain Park Access

Terrain Park features in all three of Schweitzer’s terrain parks will be removed and will not be ridable. Hiking in the terrain parks falls under the same policy as uphill traffic:  Schweitzer is private property and for your safety, uphill travel is prohibited at all times except on the Nordic trails.

SPOT Bus/Mountain Shuttles

The SPOT Bus (mountain shuttle) will operate on its normal schedule Thursday.  Friday and Saturday it will switch to running every hour from 7:00am - 5:30pm (up on the XX:00 and down on the XX:30).  This is designed to facilitate guests and employees as they clear out their lockers.  Please be mindful of normal CDC precautions for tight spaces as you ride the shuttle.

Building Access/Lockers

We plan to leave the Lakeview Lodge open for next 2 weeks for locker holders to collect their personal affairs. After April 1, 2020, guest will have to contact Guest Services or Public Safety to arrange access.
