Hermit’s Hollow FAQ
- Must be at least 42” tall to tube
- Children 12 & under should be accompanied by an adult
- Soft boots only (no ski boots)
Where is Hermit’s Hollow located, can I drive there?
Hermit’s Hollow tubing is located right at the end of the Schweitzer village. You should park in one of the main lots (with all the skiers). Once you get to Schweitzer village (either you parked close or took a shuttle), follow the walkways through the village toward the skiing. Keep walking beyond the clock tower until you see the yurt at the far end of the village (watch out for skiers!). It takes less than five minutes to walk from the main parking lot to the yurt. However, please allow plenty of time for parking, bathroom stops, etc.
Are there restrooms at Hermit’s Hollow?
Yes, there are two pit toilets located right near the Hermit’s Hollow yurt. If you prefer a warmer facility we recommend you visit the restrooms in the main village before heading out to the tubing area.
What should I wear?
Dress for the arctic! Okay, maybe that’s extreme. But really, it can get pretty cold in Schweitzer village. Be sure to wear lots of layers including warm footwear that will keep your feet dry, a warm hat and thick gloves of course. Goggles, helmets and other warm accessories are encouraged. Remember, you can always take layers off. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Is there a place to take a break and warm up?
Yes, the Hermit’s Hollow yurt is located right at the top of the tubing hill. We serve hot chocolate, Keurig coffee, PBR and other snacks for when you need to come in from the elements.
Can my 8 year old go with their older sibling?
If the sibling is at least 18, then yes! Our attendants are doing their best to look out for everyone’s safety and need a little help in making sure your little ones are paying attention to all the rules.
My child is not 42”, can they ride on my lap?
Sorry, each participant must be at least 42” to ride. Besides, we think that tubing may be a little much for your tiny ones.
My child is scared, can they ride on my lap?
Sorry, each participant must ride in their own tube. However, we do have a few double tubes that allow two people to share a ride. If conditions are appropriate, our tubing crew will also allow you to “chain together” tubes so that you can take a cruise as a group. Please check with the crew and they’ll show you how to do this.
Can I bring alcoholic beverages to Hermit’s Hollow tubing?
Sorry, no. However, we have beer for sale in the yurt. You can enjoy your adult beverage in and around the yurt, but will not be allowed to bring your alcoholic beverage into the tubing area. Visibly intoxicated guests will not be allowed to tube. Remember, this is a family friendly area!
What is your refund policy?
We ask for 48 hours notice to refund any pre-purchased tubing. If you need to cancel, please contact the Schweitzer Activity Center at 208-255-3081 and they will assist you.
