Schweitzer Mountain Resort Wraps Up Busy Summer

Preparations Begin for 2017/18 Winter Season

Sandpoint, ID – This past summer, Schweitzer Mountain Resort continued to expand their summer operations with new food service available on the summit at Sky House, engaging family friendly events like the Color Fun Run & Walk in August, and wine & beer tasting events such as Northwest WineFEST in July and the 25 th Annual Fall Fest over Labor Day weekend.

The resort continues to see summer operations grow thanks, in part, to the evolving mountain biking community in the Pacific Northwest. With this is mind, Schweitzer invested $15K in expanding the mountain bike trail system and purchased a new fleet of rental mountain bikes from Giant .

With more families discovering the trails for summer biking and hiking at Schweitzer, the resort also installed a new playground and fitness trail in the village. The new playground features are located near the Musical Chairs off-load, providing a convenient spot for families to relax and enjoy the views of Lake Pend Oreille in the base area.

Schweitzer also took advantage of the warmer months to complete exterior finishes and landscaping at Sky House on the resort’s summit. Embarking on its first season of summer operations, Sky House was a welcome destination for hikers, bikers, and those seeking a unique dining location at altitude. Sky House also hosted private weddings and events, accommodating up to 120 people.

Overall, Schweitzer Mountain Resort spent over one million dollars in capital investments including two new vehicles for the transportation fleet, upgrades to the sewer and water system, new winter uniforms from Patagonia and new rental ski and snowboard equipment from Rossignol . The resort also purchased a new Piston Bully 2017 Park Pro for building features in the resort’s 3 terrain parks.

The early forecasts are looking favorable for a cold and snowy winter at Schweitzer and with new direct flights from the Spokane International Airport to Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco and Sacramento, getting to the resort’s uncrowded slopes has never been easier. Drive time from Spokane International Airport is 1.5 hours on major highways with no mountain passes to tackle.

The resort’s early season pass sale and Ski3 lift ticket promotion are both underway offering affordable options for skiers and riders to enjoy Schweitzer all winter long. The Ski3 deal offers 3 full day, transferable adult lift tickets with no blackout dates or restrictions for just $189 plus taxes and fees. The Ski3 sale ends November 10, 2017.

Also for this winter, Schweitzer is pleased to announce that the Powder Alliance has added Bogus Basin, ID and La Parva, Chile to the already impressive list of resorts. Schweitzer unlimited pass holders will now receive 43 days FREE at 15 other resorts throughout the west and overseas. Learn more at www.powderalliance.com .
