Schweitzer Anticipates Completion of New Lodge at Summit

Construction on the highly anticipated lodge at the summit of Schweitzer Mountain Resort is nearing completion. The project, which began 17 months ago, is in its final stages with a sneak peek planned for local dignitaries and media December 16, 2016.

The 9,000 sq. ft., two-story building was designed by Sandpoint-based architect Tim Boden, engineered by Dave Thompson and features stunning 360-degree views. Idagon Homes, a Sandpoint based construction company, has managed the project since breaking ground in July of 2015. The main floor of the building will become the new home for Ski Patrol dispatch and provide much needed restrooms on the summit.  The second floor will host a restaurant and full service bar with indoor and outdoor seating for up to 180 people. The building will also offer options for accommodating private functions, including an enhanced venue for top of the mountain weddings.

“The view from the top of the mountain and the feeling you get looking out over the lake is unparalleled. The summit lodge will give us the ability to share that experience,” said Schweitzer CEO, Tom Chasse.  “Summer or winter, we think the lodge will become a destination for locals and visitors alike.”
