female wearing ski gear Sandpoint, ID – Schweitzer Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Nikol Hampton as the resort’s new Snowsports School Director following the departure of Terry McCleod. McCleod, who has served as the resort’s Snowsports School Director for the past 11 years will remain an active member of the school’s teaching staff but has chosen to focus on other areas of personal & professional development.

The resort’s Snowsports School Director is responsible for the overall management of the seasonal Snowsports School operation, including all non-competitive lesson programs, specialty clinics, and the creation of new programs for learning a variety of winter snow sport disciplines. Hampton will also be responsible for the quality, safety, and guest service standards amongst her staff of 90 employees. 

“I’m confident that through Nikol’s guidance and leadership our Snowsports department will continue to grow,” says Jade Smith, Schweitzer’s director of resort services. “She has a proven track record and is uniquely qualified to maintain the important relationships we have between our Snowsports school staff, resort managers, and our guests.” 

Hampton has over 25 years of ski industry experience starting as a children’s ski instructor at Durango Mountain Resort in CO. Over the years, she has continued to hold various teaching and management roles at Purgatory Mountain Resort, Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area and served as Director of Silver Mountain’s Snowsports School in 2002/2003. Hampton, who has been with Schweitzer as the Assistant Snowsports School Director since 2009, will assume her new position effective immediately.
