Schweitzer Reports Over 300" of Snowfall So Far this Season

Long Range Forecasts Call for Cold Temps & Above Average Precipitation

With over 300” of snowfall so far this season, Schweitzer Mountain Resort has been enjoying some of the best skiing conditions in the country. “It’s been a tough winter for many resorts across the western United States but Schweitzer has seen consistent snowfall throughout the season,” said Marketing & Sales Director, Sean Mirus. “We received 104” in the month of January, 51” so far in February and the long range weather forecasts for our region are calling for above average precipitation and colder temperatures to continue well into March and April. That’s great news for our skiers and riders.”

By hitting the 300” mark, Schweitzer has already surpassed the resort’s average annual snowfall for the season. “Most winters, March tends to be one of the snowiest months for the mountain so this could be a record setting year for us,” added Mirus. In the last 15 years, Schweitzer’s best season was 2011/2012 when they recorded 380” of total snowfall, 125” of that falling in March alone. “It would be awesome to pass that mark. Let’s hope the long range forecasts hold true and we continue to offer some of the best skiing and riding conditions in the nation right on through April,” said Mirus.

As of February 19th, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is reporting a snow base depth of 64” inches in the village and 120” inches at the summit with 315” of snowfall this season. For more details and latest snowfall information, visit www.schweitzer.com.
